Being a golfer I usually notice news regarding the golf scene. I have seen Lorena Ochoa play many times on televised tournaments and so was not really surprised that she received this award.
Lorena Ochoa growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico didn’t have many mentors as a young girl. But she did have a desire to excel as a woman golfer.
She replaced Annika Sorenstam at No. 1 in the women's world ranking. Capturing her first major championship she made history as the first female to win a professional event at St. Andrews. She became the first LPGA Tour player to top $4 million in one season.
