Well, gee, after over 3000 years there is a new development regarding the ancient pyramids of Egypt. In a move deemed necessary to pay for the upkeep of the country's thousands of ancient sites there is a plan afoot to “copyright” these historic structures.
This is a potential blow to themed resorts from Vegas to Tokyo. Egypt is purported ready to pass a law requiring payment of royalties whenever its ancient monuments, from the pyramids to the sphinx, are reproduced.
"The new law will completely prohibit the duplication of historic Egyptian monuments which the Supreme Council of Antiquities considers 100-percent copies," said Zahi Hawass, the charismatic and controversial head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities.
I guess I should be encouraged since I won't have to be building a pyramid next sumer. I will have to come up with a new summer project :-)
