Sometimes it can be hard to focus on things to be thankful for. It seems that there is no difficulty in finding the things that are going wrong in our lives, and much more difficult to stop and take account of what’s going right.
I recently read some words that might be of help for your Thanksgiving thoughts. They comes from my granddaughter who is seven. She wrote this on a placemat yesterday at the “Turkey Dinner” we have every year at our church. “I am thankful for my family, and friends, and God, and holidays and animals and food and toys and church.”
Such a profound, simple and honest list. Maybe if we were to simplify our thoughts and not be caught up in everyday complexities, we would find a list of our own. I encourage you to make a list of things you are grateful for and share it this Thursday. Appreciate what you have. When you appreciate the good things, more of them will come your way. Also, tell someone important that you love them.
