Heading into Thursday's regional rounds of the 2009 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, the surviving Sweet 16 teams constitute the most elite field since the event adopted team seeding in 1979.
There are 14 top-four seeded teams in the mix, an NCAA record.
All four top seeds — Louisville, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and North Carolina — and all four No. 2s and 3s are alive.
I guess this means that the seeding for the tournament was correct in the teams they selected.
Go Spartans!
